These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of holdingdoors.com and the products and services offered by Holding Doors Recovery ("we," "us," "our"). By using this website or purchasing any product, you agree to these Terms.

Who we are

Holding Doors Recovery is an independent publisher and coaching practice founded by Nathan Herlean. We are not a treatment facility, medical provider, or licensed mental-health service. Nothing on this site is medical advice.

What we offer

• Story to Strength books — human-written life-story books produced from your responses to guided prompts. Human ghostwriters, editors, and readers shape the final book. AI may support the workflow but never writes your finished story.
• Coaching, family support, and treatment-center consulting — conversations with Nate, booked through our scheduling partner Cal.com. Coaching is not therapy or medical treatment.
• Good Things to Know — free articles for personal reading.

Payments

Purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details. Prices are shown in US dollars. Sales tax may apply depending on your jurisdiction.

Our Promise and refunds

The specific refund and completion commitments that apply to every Story to Strength purchase are described on our Our Promise page and are incorporated into these Terms by reference. In short: a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on Story to Strength, and we complete the book we agreed to make.

Scheduling

Coaching and consultation calls are booked through Cal.com. Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance when possible.

Your content

You keep ownership of the personal stories, interviews, and materials you share. You grant us a limited license to use those materials to produce your book or deliver the service you purchased. For the Published Edition, additional terms about publication and royalties are provided in a separate publishing agreement — the author receives 60% of earned royalties and Story to Strength receives 40%.

Email and updates

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use Resend to deliver email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the site: no scraping at scale, no attempts to break authentication or access other users' data, no unlawful content. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

Not a crisis service

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 in the United States, or your local emergency number. This site is not monitored for emergencies.

Disclaimers and liability

The site and services are provided "as is." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
